Botanical Notes

Philodendron lupinum is a lesser-known aroid species native to Brazil. It was described and named by horticulturists working with tropical Araceae in the mid-20th century. The species remains rare in cultivation outside specialist collections, and its exact wild distribution is not well documented. It belongs to the larger Philodendron genus, which contains over 500 species.

Care Guide

Prefers bright, indirect light and consistently moist (not waterlogged) soil. Naturally a climber, so provide a moss pole or trellis for best growth and larger leaf development. Maintain humidity above 60% and avoid cold drafts below 18°C.

Repotting

Aroid mix: 40% orchid bark, 40% coco coir, 20% perlite. Repot every 18–24 months in spring when roots circle the pot. Slightly snug is acceptable; prefers moisture-retentive but well-draining substrate.
