Hybrid cross: Anthurium papillilaminum ×Anthurium papillilaminum
Anthurium papillilaminum is a terrestrial, velvet-leaved Anthurium native to lowland Panama. Grow it in bright, filtered light, warm temperatures, high humidity, and a very airy but moisture-retentive aroid mix. Keep the substrate lightly and evenly moist, but never soggy; allow the top layer to begin drying before watering again. It does not naturally need a moss pole like a climbing Philodendron, though gentle support may help keep the plant upright if it becomes top-heavy.
Airy terrestrial velvet-Anthurium mix: orchid bark, chunky perlite/pumice, coco chips/coir, charcoal, and a little moisture-retentive component. Avoid dense soil. Repot when the mix breaks down or roots fill the pot; don’t overpot.
Monthly during growing season (spring–summer)
- Root rot from soggy/anaerobic mix; crispy edges from low humidity, underwatering, salts, or poor water quality; fungal issues if humidity is high without airflow; spider mites/mealybugs/thrips possible.
