Anthurium 'King of Spades'
Cultivated; no wild range.
First described by Horticultural selection associated with Haji Ulih.
Dark velvety heart/spade-shaped leaves with fine bright venation; selected clones can be very dark and broad.
Upright collector foliage plant, often vigorous compared with some fussy velvet Anthuriums.
Named for its large, dark, spade-like leaves; HU refers to Haji Ulih in collector usage.
Often described as a hybrid/selection, but exact parentage is not consistently sourceable. Per DB rules this stays cultivar rather than hybrid.
Warm bright filtered conditions, chunky mix, and steady humidity. Do not judge juvenile seedlings too harshly; leaf shape and darkness can develop with age.
Use a chunky aroid mix with bark, perlite/pumice, coco chips or coarse fibre, and a moisture-retentive component. Repot gently when roots fill the pot.
Monthly at quarter to half strength during active growth. Flush occasionally if using mineral fertiliser.
