Origin & Habitat
Base species native to Philippines (Luzon).
Description
Velvety arrow-shaped leaves with white to cream sectoral or marbled variegation and pale veins.
Slower clumping Alocasia; white tissue reduces vigour compared with green Frydek.
Botanical Notes
Variegated horticultural selection of the Frydek-type Alocasia micholitziana. Variegation level is clone-dependent and can burn under too much light.
Care Guide
Use bright filtered light, not harsh sun. Keep the root zone warm and evenly lightly moist; variegated tissue scorches and marks easily.
Repotting
Repot when roots/corms fill the pot, ideally in warm active growth. Keep the corm/crown firm and not buried too deeply.
Feeding
Monthly at quarter to half strength during active growth. Reduce or pause feeding if the plant is resting or semi-dormant.
Common Problems
- Spider mites, thrips, leaf yellowing from overwatering, corm/root rot in cold wet mix, crispy edges from low humidity or missed watering.
Notes & Curiosities
- The glamorous version of Frydek, which naturally means slower growth and more anxiety.
⚠ Toxicity: toxic to pets, toxic to humans. Araceae plant with insoluble calcium oxalate crystals; chewing can irritate the mouth, throat and digestive tract.
